After Hours Access Application

Registered, trained and experienced users may apply for after hours access to the microscope and image processing workstation in rooms 6033, 6033a, 6123 and 6129 Thurston Bowles. Access requires activation of your current School of Medicine building access card or UNC Hospital proximity card (a number needs to be present on the card or obtained before access can be granted). Other users will be issued a School of Medicine access card, and need to follow the steps listed at the bottom of this page. Card activation will include access to the Thurston Bowles building.

Note 2: Please contact Michael and let him know that you have submitted the information below.
Note 3: Card activation can take up to a few days and the SOM Card Office is only open at specific times. Please plan ahead.
Note 4: Please check that your card has been activated before relying on it working. Let Michael know if it is not working (The card reader LEDs turn continuous green if your card is recognized. Alternating red and green means your card is not validated.)

How to obtain a SOM picture ID access card for card access:

Fill out form above and press submit
Inform Michael that you have submitted the above form
Obtained a signed version of the form from Michael
Take your UNC One card or a picture ID and the signed form to room 41 MacNider on a Monday, Wednesday or Fridays 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. (Note: Room 41 is really hard to find and looks like it is really in just inside the Old Clinic Building. Find room 043 MacNider (please avoid bothering the people in there) and head towards Bondurant and turn right at the corridor with the elevator and double black doors. Go through the double black doors - room 41 is immediately on the right.)
If you smile an access card will be issued on the spot at 41 MacNider
